What’s louder — the roar of a Top Fuel dragster or the feeling you get when your business drives real impact in your community?

In this episode, we sit down with Adam Wright from Snap-on Tools and Phil Read from Jim Read Racing for a chat that’s part adrenaline rush, part heart, and packed with lessons for any tradie who’s ever wondered how business, sport, and social good can fuel each other.

Sure, there are plenty of stories about burnt rubber, near misses, and that unmatched “first hit” of Top Fuel — but the real spark here is how a brand like Snap-on turns its reach and relationships into something far more powerful than horsepower.

Through the Socket to Breast Cancer initiative, Snap-on Tools is partnering with the McGrath Foundation to make sure no one goes through breast cancer without the care of a breast care nurse.
McGrath Cancer Care Nurses help individuals and families affected by cancer by providing physical, psychosocial, and emotional support throughout treatment — and Snap-on’s goal is to help fund more of those life-changing roles.

Their approach is to meet people where they already are. On the road. In the workshop. At the track. Through pink tools, limited-edition merch, QR codes for donations, and a franchise network that genuinely rallies behind the cause. It’s not just about raising money, but it’s about creating connection, awareness, and impact in the spaces where tradies live and work every day.

As Adam shares, the company’s mission isn’t just to sell tools; it’s to build a movement that supports care, community, and compassion. And for Phil, it’s deeply personal — racing for his late father-in-law’s trophy and seeing firsthand how the McGrath Foundation’s work touches families just like his own.

The takeaway for the everyday tradie is you don’t need to run a global brand or a race team to make a difference. Whether it’s backing a charity that means something to you, donating your skills to a local project, or supporting your community in small, consistent ways — every bit counts.

At its heart, this conversation is a reminder that when you align your business with purpose, you’re not just building profit — you’re building legacy.

Thank you for supporting Socket to Breast Cancer. Together, Snap-on Tools and the McGrath Foundation are driving change to ensure no one faces breast cancer alone.
